A truck driver in Chesley is gathering other truck drivers in and around the town to come make a 12-year-old boy smile on June 15 for a "Teddy Bear" run.
Paul Lewis says a 12-year-old from Hanover has Down Syndrome and was promised by his father that, when he turned 12, he could take a ride in the big rig. The boy's father unfortunately passed away from cancer.
"I just thought in this day and age, I'm going to try and step up and do one better and see if we can get him out for more than just one truck ride," said Lewis. "Life is just way too short and everybody's in a hurry."
The drive will take place on June 15 at 1 p.m. The route will begin on 7th Street Southeast, travelling the "five-mile block". The block goes south on Bruce County Road 30 to the stop sign at the intersection of Bruce Road 19. Truckers will then turn left, and left again at Bruce Road 10, finishing the block back into Chesley.
"I have a tow truck company from Hamilton, says he's going to have a wrecker for sure come up," said Lewis. "Aces Towing from Mildmay says he's going to have one there. If anybody is interested, they're more than welcome to call me on my cell phone."
Anyone who's interested can reach out to Lewis at 226-668-3217.
