Seniors programming funding coming to South Bruce Peninsula

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Rick Byers has announced new funding from the province for seniors programs.

Byers announced in a release on June 18 that the Town of South Bruce Peninsula is receiving $50,000 from the province's Seniors Active Living Centre programs and Seniors Community Grant (SCG) program.

The funds will be going towards the local seniors centre located at the Sauble Beach Community Centre.

The release shares that due to the overwhelming success of Ontario’s more than 300 Seniors Active Living Centres being delivered by municipalities, new changes to the Seniors Active Living Centres Act, 2017 came into effect as of June 1, 2024 that enable more types of organizations to deliver Seniors Active Living Centre programs.

"We are thankful that the Town of South Bruce Peninsula has been awarded $50,000 in funding from the province. This generous support will allow us to expand our health and fitness programs specifically tailored for our senior residents. Staying active is crucial for maintaining good health and well-being, and with these additional resources, we can provide even more opportunities for our seniors to engage in activities that enhance their quality of life," said Mayor of South Bruce Peninsula, Jay Kirkland.
