Huron Perth home sales improving

The resale market for homes in Huron Perth continued to improve in August.

The Huron Perth Association of Realtors reported 146 homes were sold through the MLS system, a gain of 22.7 per cent from August 2023.

“Home sales are still some way off from returning to more average levels but nevertheless continue to show an ongoing improvement,” said Teresa Ondrejicka, President of the Huron Perth Association of Realtors. “New listings are still elevated but we’re noticing the beginning of a decline in overall supply, suggesting that sellers are finally homing in on buyer preferences with respect to pricing expectations. On a separate note, we are excited to be joining the Guelph and District, Grey Bruce Owen Sound, and Lakelands Associations as OnePoint on October 1, making it the fifth largest real estate board in Ontario.”

The MLS Home Price Index composite benchmark price was $581,300 in August 2024, a modest gain of 1.2 per cent compared to August 2023.

The number of new listings saw a decline of 6.4 per cent from August 2023. There were 234 new residential listings in August 2024. Active residential listings numbered 603 units on the market at the end of August, up by 18.7 per cent from the end of August 2023.
