Bruce County looks for input into draft Official Plan

Residents have the chance to learn about Bruce County's draft new Official Plan that will guide growth in the County to 2046.

Bruce County's population is expected to grow by 93,600 and employment will see 43,000 jobs by the year 2046, so the plan will help determine how that growth will look.

People can explore an interactive map of the draft new Official Plan schedules, which shows the proposed land use designations, including Agriculture and Rural. It also outlines resources, constraints, and the Natural Environment System, and includes a slider tool to make comparisons to the current Official Plan.

Digital copies are available at Planthebruce.ca and paper copies are available in the reference section of any Bruce County library branch, the bookmobile, or at the regional planning offices in Walkerton, Wiarton, and Port Elgin.

A new survey is available, featuring questions and opportunities to identify areas of interest, concerns, and ideas for improvement.

The county is also reviewing potential adjustments or changes to designations of Settlement Areas and shorelines areas. The requests will be evaluated with recommendations provided following the public engagement period.

Public comments will help to refine the plan before it is presented to the county council for adoption later this year.
