Unemployment in Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region slightly increases

The unemployment rate in the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region went up slightly in June.

That's according to the latest numbers from the Four County Labour Market Planning Board.

The annual monthly media release from the board shares that the region's unemployment rate went up 0.4 percentage points to land at 4.3 per cent in June. That continues to be the second lowest rate in all of Ontario. Meanwhile, the provincial unemployment rate decreased by 0.1 percentage points this month to 7.8 per cent, both unadjusted for seasonality.

The numbers from the Four County Labour Market Planning Board also show the region experienced an increase of 1,100 people in overall employment, with approximately +400 full-time employment gains and +600 gains in part-time employment from last month.

Current Job postings for the Bruce, Grey, Huron, Perth region have increased overtime since the pandemic and can be found at www.connect2JOBS.ca. The current number of job postings currently exceeds 1,300.
