Celebrating Culture and Community at Bruce County’s First Cultural Symposium

Bruce County is set to host its first-ever Cultural Symposium, bringing together artists, cultural organizations, and community members for a day of inspiration and collaboration. The event takes place on Wednesday, October 8, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Chesley Community Centre.

With the theme “Common Ground: Connecting Through Culture in Bruce County,” the symposium will highlight the importance of arts, heritage, and community connections in strengthening local culture.

The day’s program features keynote speaker Heather Keam, who will present on the culture of volunteerism and the critical role volunteers play in sustaining and growing rural initiatives. Local artist and community collaborator Heather Travis will lead a networking session designed to help participants build meaningful connections, while local youth will guide small group discussions on culture and community.

“The Cultural Symposium is a powerful gathering of voices, ideas, and creative energy. Through dialogue and collaboration, we’re strengthening the role of arts and culture in the social and economic fabric of our communities,” said Brooke McLean, Director of Library Services.

Attendees will also hear from local leaders, enjoy facilitated networking, and share a complimentary lunch provided by Bruud Coffee Bar.

Tickets are available through Eventbrite for $25 per person, with sales closing September 24.
