For a third time this year, a jewellery store in Stratford has been robbed.
Three people, armed with sledgehammers, walked into Paris Jewellers in the Stratford Mall just before 5 p.m. Thursday and began smashing glass display cases. The trio then left with an unknown amount of jewellery, escaping in a grey Honda Civic with tinted windows, black rims, and Ontario Licence plate BRTM868. The vehicle had been reported stolen from the Greater Toronto Area on Tuesday.
All of the store employees made it out without injury when the robbers arrived, Stratford police said.
Numerous calls came into 911 about the robbery.
The suspects have all been described as having a slim build and an estimated height between 5’5” and 5’7”. All three had their faces and heads covered with a mask and hood and were dressed in dark coloured clothing. Police publicly released photos of the suspects in action shortly after the robbery took place in hopes someone will be able to identify them.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-271-4141 extension 2 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
Similar smash-and-grab robberies were carried out at Paris Jewellers earlier this year. In June, four hammer-wielding suspects took part in a brazen afternoon robbery. They then took off in a vehicle stolen from Peel Region. Police briefly gave chase before calling it off due to public safety concerns. Four months earlier, five suspects robbed the jewellery store, injuring an employee. Four of the five were later arrested in Kitchener.
