Ministry of Education approves land purchase for new Kincardine school

Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) has received approval to purchase land for a new school to be built in Kincardine.

According to a media release from BWDSB on December 22, the Ministry of Education approved the school board's purchase of a 15.71-acre property in Kincardine.

The property will become the new home of Kincardine District Senior School (KDSS).

The BWDSB say that the property location and timeline for completion will be announced at a later date.

In order to save money and time on the build, the new school will be built according to a modified repeat design of the current John Diefenbaker Senior School in Hanover.

The new two-story KDSS will accommodate students from Grades 7 to 12. Ongoing updates on the project will continue to be posted on the New Build – KDSS designated web page.

"We are extremely thankful to the Ministry of Education for approving our request for Land Priorities funding to support the location of the new KDSS," said BWDSB Superintendent of Business Services and Treasurer Andrew Low. "We appreciate their recognition of the need for a replacement build in the community, and the continued strong support of our municipal and other partners who are working diligently to get shovels in the ground as soon as possible."
