35-year-old man stabbed in Hanover

Hanover police are reassuring there is no threat to public safety after a stabbing that left a 35-year-old man hurt.

The man was involved in an altercation with two other men in the area of 12th Street and 10th Avenue around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday when he was stabbed. His injuries, which included wounds to his upper body and face, were described as non-life threatening.

The man alleged to have stabbed the other took off from the area in a dark coloured SUV, believed to be a Ford Explorer. He was last seen heading south on 10th Avenue, police said. Investigators later confirmed the vehicle was found in the town of Durham, and is being inspected for forensic evidence.

The other two men ran to a nearby home from help.

Police added that investigators want to check on the well-being of one of the men, whose initials are JM. They have thus far been unable to do so and are asking the man to contact Hanover police immediately.

The attack was not random and there is no risk to the public, police added.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 519-364-2411or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
