An upcoming fraud prevention talk will be coming to St. Marys and will be aimed at helping the public recognize and protect themselves from scammers.
The event will be held at the Friendship Centre on Wednesday, May 13 from 6-8 p.m. and will be free for everyone to attend.
Stratford Police Service Sergeant Jeff McGregor and Constable Darren Fischer will lead everyone through a presentation covering practical information, real‑world examples, and prevention tips to help attendees protect themselves and others from fraud.
Topics will include fee fraud in which individuals send money for goods or services that are never delivered, emergency scams that pressure victims into sending money quickly, phishing scams that include fraudulent emails, texts, and phone calls, and and door-to-door scams in which fraudsters target residents in their homes.
The session is open to all community members and advance registration is encouraged as space is limited. Register on Activenet or call the Friendship Centre at 519‐284‐3272 to save your seat.
