Walton Brewers seek last-minute replacement pitcher for ISC World Tournament

A chance to pitch at the biggest fastpitch tournament in the world has popped up due to an injury.

The Walton Brewers are urgently seeking a replacement pitcher as they prepare to compete in the International Softball Congress (ISC) World Tournament from August 10-17, 2024 in Surrey, British Columbia.

"We had a pitcher lined up from Kingston, but he suffered a knee injury and is unable to play for the rest of the year. Now we're down a man," said Walton Brewers' player-coach Scott McDonald.

The ISC World Tournament is a significant event in the fastpitch community, drawing teams and players from around the globe. McDonald emphasized that this is the biggest tournament in the world for fastball players.

“There are 36 teams participating this year. Although the tournament is usually closer to Southwestern Ontario, it moves around, and this is the first time it's been in BC in 12 years," he said. "It’s a great opportunity to play against the best players in the world.”

The 2024 ISC World Tournament, hosted at Softball City in Surrey, BC, promises to be a major event, with more than 50 teams expected to participate, attracting around 1,000 athletes, coaches, trainers, and fans.

McDonald is hopeful that the Brewers will find a suitable replacement pitcher soon.

"We're going regardless, as we still have a couple of other pitchers. But having one more to fill the roster would be a lot better," he said.

The Brewers are currently in third place in the Huron County Fastball League this season, trailing the undefeated Brussels Tigers and the Belmore Stingers.
