The province's Special Investigations Unit is looking into a crash over the weekend involving an Ontario Provincial Police cruiser on Hwy. 401.
The officer was parked on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes near Comber Sideroad Saturday afternoon when a passing vehicle struck the cruiser.
Police say five people were in the passing Volkswagen, and four of them were taken to hospital with injuries of varying severity. The officer was taken to the hospital too but has since been released.
The Special Investigations Unit is called in to investigate whenever there is death, sexual assault, or injury involving the police.
