Windsor Lowes supports Brain Injury Association

The Lowe's Heroes Campaign is helping people living with brain injuries spruce up their homes.

The Windsor East store raised $14,445 for the Brain Injury Association of Windsor and Essex County in the fall.

"Once a year we pick a member of our community and we get together as a team store. We raise most of it on our front end by asking for donations as customers complete their transactions but we have a lot of fun with car washes, barbeques and create an environment and culture in our store of being involved in the community," said Lowe's East Windsor store manager Lino Tesolin.

The money is going towards buying new appliances and home renovation materials for 16 families supported by the Brain Injury Association.

"I know that a lot of people with brain injury are on Ontario disability or other disabilities support programs and don't have money to buy new appliances or fix up things that need to be done in their home," said Jurak.

Jurak said after seeing the need of so many in the organization she'd like to create a fund for similar purchases in the future.
