There have been some changes to the school screening guidance.
The Ontario government's screening tool now has two sets of questions about symptoms and what you should do if a child presents symptoms before school.
If a child has a cough or fever they should stay home until they have an alternative diagnosis from a health care provider or a negative COVID-19 test.
If a child has only one symptom like a runny nose or headache they should stay home for at least 24 hours. After 24 hours if the symptoms are improving and they are well enough to return to school they can do so without a COVID-19 test.
A child with two or more symptoms is asked to see a health care provider or get tested for COVID-19.
The updated symptom list no longer includes abdominal pain or pink eye.
