Second Windsor house fire set on purpose

Fire investigators now say a second house fire in Windsor over the weekend was set intentionally.

Crews were called Friday night to a home on Janette Avenue off Wyandotte Street West. Windsor Fire and Rescue said several units were brought in to tackle the fire from the exterior.

Windsor Fire said via Twitter Sunday evening that the fire was indeed set on purpose and had begun on the outside of the house. The damage estimate was $350,000, plus $25,000 exposure damage to the home next door.

The fire was the second on Friday night that was suspicious in nature. Crews were called around 3:30 a.m. Saturday to a home on Midfield Crescent off Wildwood Drive. That fire was also deemed suspicious, then declared arson. The fire started with a shed, which then spread to the house, three fences, and decks. The total damage is now estimated to be around $500,000 and left four people displaced.

No injuries were reported in either fire.

Anyone with information on either of these fires is asked to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
