The Windsor Police Service seized a loaded firearm early Tuesday morning after it was pointed in a residential neighbourhood.
Police say they were called to the area of Langlois Avenue and Assumption Street around 1:45 a.m. When they arrived witnesses reported a man was seen pointing a firearm at people in the area. Police identified and located the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was stopped and the suspect was arrested without incident.
A loaded firearm with a defaced serial number was taken from the vehicle.
Dion Dagenais, 26, is charged with possessing a firearm without a license for the purpose dangerous to the public peace, occupying a car with a firearm, and possessing a firearm knowing the serial number was defaced.
The charges have not been proven in court.
Police do not believe this to be a random incident. They believe the people involved are known to each other however, victims and witnesses are not cooperating with the investigation.
Investigators are asking anyone in the area with surveillance video to review their footage for possible evidence.
