When the baseball season kicks into high gear next spring, players will play on a baseball diamond with new upgrades.
The Town of Tecumseh has put aside $3.4-million for upgrades at the Bert Lacasse Ball Diamond in its 2022 budget.
It hopes to complete the work by May 31, 2023.
SFERA Architectural Associates Inc. will prepare the designs, and a call for tenders will go out late this summer.
The first order of business is to remove the existing grandstands and backstop. The footings for a new grandstand should go in late this fall.
Back in 2013, the ball diamond underwent $500,000 in renovations. A federal grant helped pay for a new lighting system and washrooms. The pathways and approach areas were resurfaced, and new electrical wiring went in for the scoreboard.
Lacasse Park has hosted many provincial championships.
