Windsor man faces numerous fraud charges

Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a man suspected in a fraud case in Lakeshore.

The investigation began in December 2021, when a family notified police and told them they were victims of fraud between January and December of that year.

Members of the OPP Essex County Crime Unit began to dig deeper into the complaint, and they discovered that a person known to the family had fraudulently obtained an undisclosed amount of money from the family throughout 2021.

A 36-year-old Windsor man is now charged with two counts of fraud under $5,000, and five counts over $5,000.

The suspect has been released from police custody and will have a chance to defend himself against the charges at a later date in a Windsor court.

The investigation is ongoing. If you or someone you know has been the victim of fraud, call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
