Tecumseh woman facing charges

A Tecumseh resident was arrested after an incident that closed County Road 8 Thursday afternoon.

Around 2 p.m. the Ontario Provincial Police were called to assist the Windsor Police Service with a report of a woman armed with a long gun.

The emergency response teams and canine units of both the Windsor Police Service and the Essex County OPP responded to the scene.

Constable Steven Duguay said after about an hour the woman was taken into custody. No shots were fired during the incident.

A woman was charged with pointing a firearm, assaulting a police officer, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

A severe thunderstorm watch that was in effect for residents of Sarnia, Petrolia, Western Lambton County, Chatham-Kent, Leamington, Windsor, and Essex County Wednesday evening is over.
