Big Brothers Big Sisters announces new fund to help less fortunate

Big Brothers Big Sisters Windsor Essex hopes you'll dig into your wallet to help families facing a hard time this holiday season.

It's created a new fund to honour a long-time employee, mentor, and community advocate.

The Barbara Browning Family Assistance Fund supports those families that use the services at Big Brothers Big Sisters. It could make the lives of families a little easier by alleviating social, economic, and recreational pressures.

"It holds a deep and profound significance in my life by providing a legacy that will have a positive impact on the lives of others," said Browning. "It reflects the values and principles that I hold dear of the importance of serving others and the belief that we can all give a little to help a lot."

Families go to the agency to get mentorship for young people born into circumstances that cause high stress, including poverty, familial separation, bullying, or witnessing violence.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Windsor Essex is taking donations online.
