Its National Sun Awareness week. (June 1-6) Public Health Nurse Catherine Grift is reminding us to protect ourselves from overexposure this summer. She says a common mistake people make is they simply don't put enough sunscreen on before going outdoors. Grift recommend wearing sunscreen and protective eyewear when outdoors especially between 11am and 4pm when the UV rays are strongest. The latest research from the Ontario Cancer Registry revealed Sarnia-Lambton does have higher rates of melanoma compared to other parts of the province.
