We could see record high temperatures in Sarnia this weekend.
Highs of 13 C or more are forecast Saturday and Sunday.
Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson says last month was the warmest November in Sarnia in 14 years.
"For the month of November, the airport had an average temperature of 7.3 C and a long term average temperature for November is 4.3 C. So a full three degrees warmer than normal, and that was in fact, the warmest November in the area since 2001."
Coulson says long term forecasts of a mild winter season are holding true so far, and could result in a green Christmas.
"The trend that we're seeing for the rest of the month of December to be warmer than normal is expected to continue, at least for the first half of January as well," he says. "That doesn't mean we won't see a few cold days here and there, won't mean we won't get some snowfall as we move into the month of January, but again, that overall trend at this point and time is to be somewhat milder than normal."
Coulson says the unseasonably mild temperatures are due in part to a strong El Nino event causing warmer than normal waters in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of South America.
