Mayor's State of the City Speech

Sarnia's Mayor hopes this year will be just as successful, if not more, than 2015. Mike Bradley delivered his State of the City speech Tuesday afternoon at the Seaway Kiwanis Club. He says there's been great progress with Bayside Mall, Lambton College, and the Western Research Parks. "The college in particular is a great instrument of, not just education, but also economic and social development and it's certainly proving that in the last number of years. Coupled with the research park, where it's actually doing research, we're having some great things happening," says the mayor.

"The fact that the research park was just voted one of the top 10 in North America, speaks highly of the research and development going on there." Mayor Bradley noted that it's been 25 years since Sarnia and Clearwater amalgamated, and they will soon have to negotiate a new agreement. He hopes they'll look at direct election of a Warden, and representation by population on county council. He also hopes Sarnia City Council will accelerate its debt reduction plan, review attrition, attract a larger population, and improve labour relations.
