Sarnia's mayor says the current water crisis in Flint, MI demonstrates how we can never take our water supply for granted.
Mike Bradley was reacting to news that Flint's water has been contaminated by lead after switching to the Flint river as its supply.
He says the issue strengthens the case against burying nuclear waste a kilometre from the Lake Huron shoreline near Kincardine.
He's hopeful the Federal Liberal government will take notice of the situation.
"There's no question that this is of concern for those opposed to the repository. We have now seen unfortunately what happens when there's not purity in the water. You don't have the ability to just resolve the issue in a day, it is generational."
Bradley says there's a new video being circulated to the government opposing the Great Lakes nuclear dump. A decision on the proposed repository is expected to be made by the spring.
About 70 U-S National Guard members are being stationed in Flint Monday for assistance.
Teams visited nearly five-thousand homes yesterday, providing free bottled water, filters, replacement cartridges and water testing kits.
