Local celebrities tried their hands at crafting handmade pottery bowls Thursday for Lambton College's Empty Bowls fundraiser against hunger. Ceremics Professor Beth Turnbull Morrish helped various college officials, community leaders, police officers, and firefighters as each person attempted sculpting two bowls. Turnbull Morrish says the finished bowls will be available for purchase by donation during the Empty Bowls dinner in April. "Just giving it a try, having some fun, having some laughs. What we're doing with these creations, which maybe you could call a bowl, we're going to glaze them up and we're going to put the celebrity's signature on the bottom of them and they'll be available the night of the dinner for viewing and for purchase by donation." In it's ninth year, Empty Bowls has raised $70,000 for the Inn of the Good Shepherd and the Lambton College food banks. Tickets are $25 for the soup dinner and art raffle event on April 11th.
