At a recent board meeting the Judith & Norman Alix Foundation approved $357,000 in funding for seven local projects.
-$10,000 to the March of Dimes for a hydrotherapy tub for residents with disabilities. -$10,000 to the Village of Oil Springs for an accessible ramp at its community hall. -$8,000 for outside renovations of the Sarnia Rugby Club Bell Building and for training equipment. - $30,000 for a portable bleacher trailer for the Lambton Fairs Association. -$100,000 to the forest Curling and Social Club for a modernization project. -$64,000 for a food trailer at the Lions Club in Petrolia. -$135,000 for expansion at the Oil Heritage District Community Centre.
"This was our largest intake of applicants to date," says Vice-President Adam Alix. "We were really excited to see the variety of different projects that were brought to the table for consideration and we were happy to approve seven key projects throughout the Sarnia-Lambton area."
Alix says the community was highly involved with this application period.
"The nice thing about this round of applications is that were more reach into the community than in our previous projects," he says.
The next round of fundraising applications is scheduled for September.
The foundation has donated almost $4-million to over ten local projects since its inception.
