Lambton Public Health hopes more people will participate in the Ontario Health Study blood collection program.
It enables researchers to better understand and compare cancer, other chronic diseases, and overall quality of life between various communities across the province.
A total of 420 local participants have provided a blood sample so far.
"The more people that participate in a study like this, then the better research that can be done," says Health Promotion Manager Kevin Churchill.
A four-day Sarnia-Lambton Study Centre at the end of February welcomed more than 150 participants aged 30-74 years old.
"We set a goal for having 200 participate," he says, noting they had hoped more would attend.
New participants can still complete an online questionnaire at www.ontariohealthstudy.ca.
Eligible participants for a blood sample will be provided with a requisition form to be taken to LifeLabs on Exmouth St. in Sarnia.
