Sarnia council will once again consider donating $25,000 to Fort McMurray wildfire relief efforts when it meets Monday. Mayor Mike Bradley says the motion was tabled at council's May 9th meeting, pending consideration of a donation by the County of Lambton. "I cannot recall an issue in memory where I had such a strong response from the public, 100% overwhelming about they wanted their city to step up. We could have been one of the first - if not the first city in this country to make a donation." The county has since contributed $100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross, along with other municipalities within the county federation including St. Clair Township, Pt. Edward and Brooke-Alvinston. The city's donation could be funded from the 2016 Operating Contingency Reserve, which has increased funds from a recent Bluewater Power dividend.
