The push for a new detox hub in Sarnia continues but tweaks are being made in hopes of securing $10-million in provincial funding for the 24-bed facility.
More detail is being added to the submission after the province sent it back to Bluewater Health with questions.
Project VP Paula Reaume-Zimmer says they'll be adding information surrounding after-care programs in Sarnia provided by House of Sophrosyne and Westover.
She says there's a great need for a detox hub in the city and that Sarnia-Lambton's addiction rate is higher than the provincial average.
Reaume-Zimmer says they'll work on developing the proposal over the summer.
The LHIN board is expected to review and hopefully endorse the project at its September board meeting. It would then be re-submitted to the province for final approval.
The group is also working with the Canadian Mental Health Association to provide housing to those who are rehabbed.
A location for the new detox hub has not been finalized.
