A candlelight vigil is being held Thursday night in memory of those killed or injured by impaired driving.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Sarnia-Lambton Board Member Mary Parkes says it's important to get the word out about the dangers or being impaired behind the wheel.
"The purpose of this is really for awareness and to support victims," says Parkes. "Every victim is invited to light a candle in memory of their loved ones, and bring awareness to the community about the devastation of losing loved ones to such a preventable thing."
She lost her 40-year-old son Mike in an impaired driving crash on November 7, 1997.
The ceremony gets underway at 7pm at the Point Edward Optimist Hall on Monk St.
