Legionnaires Ground Flyers, Stay Alive In Playoffs

The Sarnia Legionnaires' season isn't over yet.

Josh Barraclough scored twice including the game winner in overtime, to lift Sarnia to a 4-3 win over the visiting Leamington Flyers Tuesday. The Legionnaires now trail the best-of-seven first round GOJHL series three games to one, with game five set for Thursday night in Leamington.

Alec DeKoning and Derek Johnson scored the other Legionnaires goals. Sarnia led 1-0 after the first period, and 3-1 after two frames.

The Flyers scored powerplay goals within 58 seconds of each other to tie the contest 3-3 in the third period.

Barraclough's OT winner came off a nice feed by Nash Nienhuis from behind the net. Nienhuis and Zach Vanderwal each had two helpers in the game.

The Legionnaires converted two of seven powerplay opportunities, while Leamington scored three powerplay goals on nine chances.

Legionnaires goalie Jorgen Johnson made 25 saves on 28 shots while Leamington's Connor Meyerink stopped 33 of 37 Sarnia shots.

Zach Guilbeault, Griffin Robinson, and Scott Florence each scored for the Flyers.

Thursday's Game 5 can be heard live on 103.9FM-1070AM CHOK beginning at 7pm.
