Organizers of the 40th annual CHOK-YMCA Bridge Race are hoping it will be the biggest one yet.
YMCA Communications Manager Gerry Gillis says it is their largest volunteer led fundraising event.
The event once again offers a 10 km route across the Blue Water Bridge, as well as a 5 km and 1 km kids fun run in Canatara Park.
She says even with heightened security at the border, she doesn't foresee any issues.
"It is business as usual although we've been very mindful of any changes coming through," says Gillis. "Typically the process is, we have pre-clearance from border control on either side from our pre-registration list, so the border is fully award of who will be crossing that morning."
As usual, 10 km runners will be bussed across the border, with the finish line at Canatara Park.
Gillis says things are looking clear on both sides of the border as construction has caused headaches for organizers in the past.
In 2015, bridge work forced the 10 km race to be held entirely on the Canadian side.
Races get underway in the morning of Sunday, June 4.
