A 40-year-old Sarnia woman is charged after a four hour standoff with police Sunday.
Around 11:15am, officers were called to a Roger St. apartment for reports of a woman uttering death threats.
Constable John Sottosanti says the hostile female refused to open the door for police.
"When officers arrived on scene and attempted to make contact with the female she began yelling at the officers through the door advising that she would harm them with knives," says Sottosanti. "Officers could hear the female, what sounded like, stabbing the door with knives. At this point the decision was made to contact the Emergency Response Team along with the Crisis Negotiations Team of the Sarnia Police Service."
It's alleged the woman could be seen through the window holding knives and throwing objects at the windows breaking them.
Just after 3pm, members of the Emergency Response Team entered the apartment and took the female into custody.
Sottosanti says she was taken to hospital to ensure her well-being before being transported to Sarnia Police Headquarters.
She's charged with six counts of uttering threats, two counts of assault with a weapon and one count of mischief over $5,000.
