With one week to spare, the Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign has reached its goal.
For the second year in a row, the campaign has raised over $2-million to help fund 19 local agencies.
Campaign Chair Vicky Ducharme says it was a bumpy road for the campaign, which for the most part trailed behind last year's pace.
"We have an awesome community and they definitely pushed forward so that we could meet our goal and surpass our goal, so that helps all of the programs and services here in Sarnia-Lambton," says Ducharme.
This year's campaign saw the resurrection of the Poor Boy Luncheon as the United Way celebrated 60 years.
It was also the inaugural year for the Stairclimb for the Holidays, which collected over $2,500.
“With what has been donated to date, and with the dollars that are anticipated to come in over the next two weeks, we are expected to finish off the year at $2,010,000,” says Executive Director Dave Brown.
Over 3,500 individuals donated to the campaign, which officially wraps up at the end of the year.
