Police Say No Danger At Local High School

There was one main topic of discussion at St. Patrick's High School in Sarnia Thursday, after word surfaced that a male student was recently investigated for commenting on a threatening post on social media about a possible shooting at the school.

Police say the original post began last week in the Kitchener-Waterloo area and was shared in several other jurisdictions before making its way to Sarnia.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service has charged a female student under the age of 18 with uttering threats and mischief over $5,000.

A local 18-year-old high school student who commented on the threatening post was quickly identified and dealt with by police and the school on Tuesday, April 3.

On Thursday, the same social media post was shared several times, once again raising concern there could be a shooting at St. Pat's.

Members of the Community Response Division, the Criminal Investigations Division and Lambton OPP were able to locate the Sarnia student who made the original comment on Tuesday.

It was then determined it was the same comment that was made on Tuesday by the same individual. Police are satisfied no new threats have been made and there is no danger at the high school.
