The power is back on for around 10,000 Bluewater Power customers that had the lights go out Friday because of windy conditions.
Environment Canada issued a wind warning saying gusts of 90 km/h to 100 km/h were likely in advance of a sharp cold front.
A gust of 97 km/h was recorded at Sarnia's Chris Hadfield Airport at mid-afternoon. The warning was ended at around 5:15pm.
Bluewater Power CEO Janice McMichael-Dennis says the winds were causing numerous outages.
"The wind is playing havoc, especially with trees which are then falling onto power lines," says McMichael-Dennis. "We're urging people that if you see a downed power line, which do have reports of, please stay far away from it. We're on full alert and we're responding. Be patient and we'll get there."
Around 4,000 customers lost power in the north part of Sarnia and Point Edward at around 2:30pm, and Sherwood Village residents were in the dark as of 2:40pm.
The utility says Hydro One's Wanstead station also lost power, impacting county customers in Alvinston, Petrolia, Watford and Oil Springs.
Some intersections in downtown Sarnia had traffic lights blown right off the light standards. Drivers are reminded to treat intersections without working traffic signals as four-way stops.
There were also reports of houses, particularly in Bright's Grove having roof damage.
Hydro crews were deployed in full force to make repairs and restore service to customers.
There was a short-lived thunderstorm warning early Friday afternoon as a high-pressure ridge moved in and winds shifted from southwesterly to northwesterly.
