Phase One of an erosion control project along the Lake Huron shoreline in Bright's Grove should wrap up by the end of June.
Sarnia's Engineering Director Mike Berkvens says the bulk of the work has been done.
"They've completed all the in-water work," says Berkvens. "They've installed the groynes and some of the armour stone rocks so now they're just finishing off some of the top rocks on the groyne and finishing off the shoreline protection."
It's the first step in the shoreline improvement plan but future work will depend on the availability of provincial funding.
"This project includes the groynes and the 40 m of shoreline they're doing the abatement too," says Berkvens. "The contract was for $600,000 to be split between the city and a provincial government grant."
Future work will depend on the availability of provincial funding.
Kenwick St. at old Lakeshore Rd in Bright's Grove will be closed until the project is done.
