The Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign has fallen behind last year's pace.
The yearly effort is up only 1.5 per cent from last week and is at 49 per cent, or $981,000 of the $2 million goal.
Executive Director Dave Brown said that's about four per cent behind last year's pace.
He's hoping to see a large push in the next week or two.
"It's certainly too early to freak out," said Brown. "We're still in the early innings of the campaign. It is nervous around the office being behind. Four per cent represents about $80,000, so it doesn't seem like much until you put it in dollar form. We're still confident, but we're getting more and more nervous as November rolls closer."
This Saturday's Locally Lambton Dinner is a sellout, and registration is already underway for the second annual United Way Stair Climb on November 27.
The United Way helps fund 19 agencies providing 35 community programs and services.
