Increasing concern about United Way campaign

As we near the final stretch of the fundraising campaign, there's a chance the Sarnia-Lambton United Way may fall short this year.

Executive Director Dave Brown said they're still behind last year's pace.

"Right now we are at $ 1.544 million, which is 77.2 per cent," said Brown. " Over 2,800 donors have supported the campaign so far but we're running out of time and we are really starting to get worried that we may not reach the campaign goal."

The United Way helps fund 19 local agencies providing 35 programs and services to the community.

Brown said they're in the final year of their three-year community investments, and are reviewing the agencies for the next cycle beginning April 1, 2019.

Agencies supported by the United Way include Big Brothers Big Sisters Sarnia-Lambton, Canadian Mental Health Association and Lambton Elderly Outreach.

You can donate online at www.theunitedway.on.ca or in person at the East Street office.
