Winter officially arrived a week ago, but try telling Mother Nature that.
A system moving in from Colorado is bringing along much warmer air than usual for this time of year.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Marie-Eve Giguere said it will be unseasonably warm Thursday night and Friday in Sarnia-Lambton.
"Rain on the way with a warm breeze from the south bringing mild temperatures, so it's going to be a warm night with the temperature rising all the way up to 10 degrees," said Giguere. "It will climb a little bit more above 10 degrees reaching probably 12 degrees on Friday. Very mild day, grey and drizzle. Very unusual holiday weather."
The record high for December 28 is 13.6 C, 55 F set in 2008 and normal high temperatures for around this time of year is -1 C, 30 F with nighttime lows of -8 C, 18 F.
She said the mercury will dip back below the freezing mark by Friday night.
Giguere said the same Colorado low bringing mild temperatures and rain to southern Ontario brought freezing rain to eastern Ontario Thursday and almost 30 centimetres of snow to northern Ontario.
