Full parole for Molitor to be considered in February

Family and friends of a slain Sarnia woman, say a full parole hearing is scheduled for her killer next month.

Tracy MacDonald says Jeremy Molitor will appear before the Parole Board of Canada February 22 in Mission, British Columbia.

"Back in November, when we originally came with news about it, it was a closed door parole hearing," said MacDonald. "What that meant was the parole board members were in an office, reviewing the whole case from top to bottom, and then making a decision whether he would be released on full parole."

MacDonald thinks community opposition has had an impact.

"We believe as a family, that due to the overwhelming response from our community -- over 135 letters were sent in -- as well as some of his actions since he's been out on day parole, now the parole board has questions and now they are doing an actual parole hearing."

In late 2004, Molitor was convicted of second degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Jessica Nethery, and sentenced in March 2005, at age 27, to life in prison with no chance of parole for 14 years.

MacDonald says she and Jessica's sister, Stephanie Nethery, will attend and speak at the parole hearing.

Nethery's body was found on May 4, 2002 in her car in a laneway at the Kenwick apartment building. She had been stabbed 58 times.

Molitor was granted day parole in 2015 and currently lives in British Columbia.
