Record breaking McHappy Day

It was another record-breaking McHappy Day in Sarnia.

The annual event raised $25,775 for Pathway's Health Centre for Children, surpassing last year's total of $24,270.

McDonald's Canada says this year's McHappy Day raised a record $6.6 million for children's charities.

Health Centre Executive Director Jenny Greensmith said the money raised locally goes to the $1.6 million therapeutic pool fundraising campaign.

The pool was closed for about eight months after a leak was discovered beneath the main drain in December 2017.

Since then, Pathway's has launched a capital campaign for the second phase of the therapeutic pool rebuild.

Over 1,400 restaurants across the country participated in McHappy Day Wednesday, raising money for Ronald McDonald Houses and other local charities.
