Sarnia police say alcohol was a factor in two crashes over the Labour Day long weekend.
Police were called around 3:40 a.m. Friday after a vehicle overturned into the west ditch on Brigden Road near London Line.
Sarnia Fire and Rescue had to extricate two people from the vehicle while two others, including the driver, were already out when crews arrived.
The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries, and breath samples determined he was allegedly over the legal limit.
A 20-year-old man from the Sarnia area is charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired and impaired operation with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams.
On Saturday, police responded to a hit-and-run complaint after a vehicle had sideswiped another in the area of Rosedale Avenue and Indian Road. The complainant followed the vehicle to a residence and called police.
The officer formed grounds to arrest the driver of the vehicle. The accused was transported back to the station where unsuccessful attempts were made to conduct breath tests.
A 56-year-old Sarnia man is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and failure or refusal to comply with a demand.
