The president of the Sarnia-Lambton Real Estate Board is hopeful listings continue to trend higher.
Donna Mathewson said supply is critical to a healthy, balanced market.
She said listings were up slightly in August, the second straight month of improvement, and are nearly seven per cent higher year-to-date.
"We stayed steady through the summer as we predicted we would because we still have a supply and demand problem, but you're going to see in the stats that the listings are up right now, which is good -- that's the second month in a row, which means we're hopefully on a trend to become a more balanced market, but I'd like to see it for three or four months before we start calling it a trend," she said.

Mathewson said the local community is becoming a more attractive place to live.
"People are starting to realize what we have to offer, and I think one of the reasons we are so affordable is we have three international airports within an hours drive, we have all kinds of golf courses, our docking fees in Sarnia are half the price of anywhere else," said Mathewson. "All those things combined make it a really great place to live, not to mention we're still one of the lowest average sale price in Southwestern Ontario."
There were 163 sales in August worth a total of $55.2 million, a dollar volume increase of almost eight per cent.
Housing prices continue to trend higher in Sarnia-Lambton. The average price so far this year is $336,000 compared to $310,000, an increase of more than eight per cent.
