The Halloween forecast for Sarnia-Lambton is kind of scary for trick-or-treaters.
Environment Canada has a special weather statement in effect calling for potentially heavy rain, wind and falling temperatures.
The weather agency said rain from a low-pressure system from the southwest began Wednesday morning and will not end until Friday morning.
Meteorologist Gerald Cheng said Wednesday through Thursday up to 50 millimetres (two inches) of rain is possible.
"It's going to be especially heavy for Thursday afternoon and also, as we head into Thursday night, winds are going to pick up as well, gusts up to 70 kilometres an hour," said Cheng. "I think those stronger gusts will come during the overnight hours, so expect some breezy conditions already for trick-or-treating hours."
Cheng added that trick-or-treaters may want to put on some extra layers of clothing under their costumes because it's going to be chilly Thursday night as well.
"Temperatures are going to drop, especially through the day Thursday because of a cold front, and that's the end of the seasonal temperatures. We should be looking at a daytime high of about 11 degrees. If you take a look at the forecast for the weekend and onwards, it's going to be below seasonal for a while."
Cheng said they can't rule out the possibility of some snow showers Thursday night.
The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority has a flood watch in effect.
It includes a gale warning for southern Lake Huron as northwest winds of 65 kilometres an hour, creating waves to three metres, could again cause erosion particularly in the Old Lakeshore Road area of Bright's Grove.
