Sarnia council has approved the current fire station location on Colborne Road for a new building.
Plans to demolish the station and build a new one on the same site, at 1133 Colborne Rd., were put on hold last July, pending results of a station location study that was undertaken as part of the Fire Master Planning process.
$100,000 has been set aside for the design phase this year, with $3.3 million for demolition and construction scheduled for 2021-2022.

Sarnia council has tabled spending up to $30,000 for chamber upgrades so they can meet during the pandemic in person.
Councillors have been attending virtual meetings from home, or logging on from a meeting room in city hall, because of audio and video limitations in council chambers.
A decision on the upgrades has been deferred until February and council will maintain the current electronic hybrid meeting format.
Sarnia council did, however, authorize spending up to $20,000 to implement request to speak and digital voting software.

The city will be adding dedicated veterans parking spaces in municipal lots across the city.
Signs will be installed dedicating spaces at Sarnia Arena, Progressive Auto Sales Arena, the Bayshore Parking Lot across from the Royal Canadian Legion, and the Jackson Pool Parking Lot which is adjacent to the Germain Park War Memorial.
City staff decided against designating spaces at city hall, due to a lack of parking there.

A speed limit reduction has been approved for a portion of Blackwell Sideroad.
The section near Korny Korners farm, adjacent to the intersection of Blackwell Sideroad and Michigan Line, will drop from 80 kilometres per hour to 50 kilometres per hour.
Representatives from the farm circulated a petition calling for speed reductions last fall.

Sarnia council has approved the replacement of Waterworks Road Bridge.
The span over Waddel Creek was originally scheduled for reconstruction next year, but because of safety reasons, it will be done this year.
Murray Mills Excavating and Trucking in Sarnia has been awarded the $382,000 job.

The Virgil Avenue water main is set for replacement.
Cope Construction and Contracting has been awarded the $645,000 job to replace the water main between Marlborough Lane to LaSalle Line.
The project will interconnect the city and St. Clair Township water systems and help improve water pressure in parts of Aamjiwnaang First Nation and their proposed community centre.

Council has approved the demolition of a house and garage at 1649 London Line, to the East of John's Restaurant, a building at 708 Edding Street and the former Daybreak Restaurant at 293 East St. S.
