Shell Canada donates $20K to Sarnia medically fragile facility

Shell Canada has made a generous $20,000 donation to the March of Dimes Standing Oaks residence in Sarnia.

Community Concerns for the Medically Fragile, in partnership with March of Dimes, created the family-oriented home off Michigan Avenue.

It allows medically fragile individuals to live in a 10-bedroom residential facility instead of institutional settings.

Shell spokesman Rheal Guenette said the company is proud to support the home.

“We want to strongly support our community, especially during the COVID-19 crisis," said Guenette. "We are extremely proud to be able to support this cause.”

Standing Oaks has been closed over the past few months due to the pandemic but recently, socially distanced patio visits have begun, making it possible for residents to see and hear their visitors without glass between them.

March of Dimes Canada President and CEO Len Baker thanks Shell for its support.

“We deeply appreciate the support Shell has provided to us during the pandemic and long before that, as well," said Baker in a news release. "We thank Shell for the dedication and hard work that it brings to Standing Oaks.”
