Strong northerly winds and large waves will batter the southern Lake Huron shoreline Thursday.
The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority issued a water safety bulletin Wednesday afternoon that will remain in effect until 8 p.m. Friday.
A low pressure system out of Colorado is expected to bring winds from the north gusting to around 40 kilometres an hour early Thursday. They will increase through the day and into the evening with gusts expected to peak near 65 kilometres an hour before slowly subsiding early Friday and into the afternoon.
Environment Canada is forecasting waves will build to two metres Thursday afternoon.
Residents along the southern Lake Huron shore may experience increased wave action, storm surge and possible erosion, and are reminded to avoid shorelines, watercourses and flooded areas. Conditions will be dangerous due to slippery banks and cold, swift moving water.
