Sting beat Wolves for second straight win

The Sarnia Sting earned their second straight win after beating the Sudbury Wolves 6-2 at Progressive Auto Sales Arena Friday night.

Sting forward Angus MacDonell took the lead scoring a goal in the first period, eventually earning his second career hat trick by the end of the game.

The 17-year-old forward already has six goals in 11 games this season.

Tyson Doucette got the second goal in the first period, followed up by Joshua Hoover, taking a 3-0 lead over the Wolves. It was the 18-year-old defenceman's first Ontario Hockey League career goal.

"It's definitely nice to get that first point, especially against my old time," said Hoover. "I just looked up ice and saw an opening. Angus set up a nice pick on the blue line so I was able to get around the defenceman and after that I saw an opening up top and I just ripped it."

MacDonell led the Sting’s attack with his second career hat trick. The 17-year-old forward already has six goals in 11 games this season.

"It was a really good all-around game," said MacDonell. "It was really nice to get the points for the team rolling into Hamilton tomorrow [Saturday]."

The Sting improved to 6-4-1-0 with their second consecutive win.

The Sting travel to Hamilton Saturday to play the Bulldogs. Pregame on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM) starts at 3:30 p.m. Puck drop is at 4 p.m.
