Submissions are being accepted for the ninth annual Lambton Youth Short Film Festival.
The competition is held as part of the Lambton Film and Food Festival (LaFFF), which will take place from May 25 to May 28.
"We again had great support from area schools. This year, there were nearly 130 students who participated overall in the program, from both the public and Catholic, secondary and elementary, and French and English school systems, said Spokesperson Scott Ferguson in a statement. "The students love the program and seem to really enjoy the creative and technical process of making a film."
Films created through the training program can be submitted into the competition but students can also create their own films for consideration.
Participants can enter films, up to three minutes in length, in a variety of categories including comedy, animation, and documentary.
Ferguson said nearly 30 films were submitted last year.
The submission deadline is May 19 at 4 p.m. and films must be submitted electronically. Further details are posted to the LaFFF website.
Participants must be between the ages of 13 and 19 within the elementary or secondary school system.
Films will be judged on May 23. Thanks to several sponsors, cash prizes totaling up to $2,000 will be up for grabs.
All submissions will be shown during the LaFFF and winners will be announced on May 25 at 5:30 p.m. during a pizza party at the Kineto Theatre in Forest.
